In the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2014 Spain will be represented by Ruth Lorenzo, a girl born in Murcia and brought up in USA who wrote the song "Dancing in the rain" originally in English. The singer, who participated in the British version of the X Factor TV show, decided to adapt the verses in Spanish for the Eurovision preselection. That way she could try to represent Spain in this famous song contest.
But "Dancing in the rain" is not, in fact, the first theme representing Spain without being completely written in Spanish. In 2002, Rosa López sang "Europe's living a celebration", a song that contained part of the lyrics in English, as well as "I love you mi vida" (2007) by D'Nash. In both cases, though, merely repeating the phrase that gave title to the song. And in the 80s, the same happened with "Made in Spain" (1998) by La Década Prodigiosa and "Lady, Lady" (1984) performed by a band called Bravo.
